View Article and Find Full Text PDFFrom January 1, 1986 to December 31, 1987, 170 subrenal abdominal aortic aneurysms were operated on using a technique involving systematic revascularisation of the inferior mesenteric artery each time this was possible. The electively chosen revascularisation method was endo-aortic reimplantation which was carried out on 51 occasions out of 53 revascularisations. The post-operative mortality was zero.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFRecanalization of the inferior mesenteric artery is the only way to prevent with certainty the risk of post-operative ischaemia of the colon. Two different techniques can be used: either reimplantation by the intra-aortic route if the inferior mesenteric artery is healthy, or PTEF bypass rather than direct reimplantation in case of ostial or near-ostial stenosis. The feasibility of these procedures has been confirmed by angiographic controls.
