Cota is a lipidated dual GLP-1 and Glucagon receptor agonist that was investigated for the treatment of various metabolic diseases, it is designed for once daily subcutaneous administration. Invasive daily injections often result in poor patient compliance with chronic disease, and here, we demonstrate an innovative strategy of encapsulating reversible cota self-assembled fibers within an in-situ forming depot of low molecular weight poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (LWPLGA) for sustained delivery GLP-1 and Glucagon receptor agonist with controlled burst release. This could be a suitable alternative to other sustained delivery strategies for fibrillating peptides.

Effect of wheat roasting conditions and wheat type on short-wave infrared (SWIR) spectral data of whole and milled wheat by ANOVA-simultaneous component analysis.

ANOVA-simultaneous component analysis (ASCA) was used to investigate the effect of roasting and wheat type on shortwave-infrared (SWIR) spectra of whole wheat and flour through assessment of statistical significance and characterisation of the contributing spectral features. The full factorial experimental design included two wheat types, three roasting temperatures and three roasting frequencies. SWIR spectral images were collected from the two roasted wheat types and their two milled samples.

Background: Abortion stigma has been shown to influence provider attitudes around abortion and may decrease provider willingness to participate in abortion care, or lead some to obstruct care. However, this link remains understudied.

Methods: The present study uses baseline data collected through a cluster-randomized controlled trial in 16 public sector health facilities in South Africa in 2020.

In addition to gluten proteins, starch impacts the quality characteristics of the final baked product. Wheat starch consists of amylose and amylopectin organized into alternating semicrystalline and amorphous layers in granules that vary in size and are embedded in the endosperm protein matrix.

Definitions, perspectives, and reasons for conscientious objection among healthcare workers, facility managers, and staff in South Africa: a qualitative study.

Conscientious objection (CO) on the part of healthcare providers is a growing threat to safe abortion access. In South Africa, evidence suggests that this legal clause may be manipulated as a justification for public-sector healthcare providers to exempt themselves from their duties to provide essential reproductive health services as required by national laws and protocols. This qualitative study improves our understanding of the definitions, perspectives, and use of CO among providers, staff, and facility managers in South Africa, and CO's effect on public-sector abortion availability.
