Unlabelled: Volcanic islands are often subject to flank instability, resulting from a combination of magmatic intrusions along rift zones and gravitational spreading causing extensional faulting at the surface. Here, we study the Koa'e fault system (KFS), located south of the summit caldera of Kīlauea volcano in Hawai'i, one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, prone to active faulting, episodic dike intrusions, and flank instability. Two rift zones and the KFS are major structures controlling volcanic flank instability and magma propagation.

However, information on transient near-field deformation has rarely been captured, hindering progress in understanding rifting mechanisms and evolution. Here we show new evidence of oblique rift opening during a rifting event influenced by pre-existing fractures and two centuries of extension deficit accumulation.

The objective of this study was to evaluate whether low-cost provider- and patient-focused interventions would increase influenza vaccination rates at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMCCC).

Pyrimidinyl and pyrazinyl radicals were generated under moderate energetic irradiation conditions (UVA), and proved to be prompt to undergo C-C bond formation processes. Hetero-biaryl derivatives were obtained in good to high yields with highly interesting functional group selectivities. Bis hetero-biaryls were also easily accessible leading to original compounds, ready for further transformations.
