Purpose: Three-column osteotomies (3COs), such as pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) and vertebral column resection (VCR), are used to surgically correct rigid adult spinal deformity (ASD). While extensive research exists about complications associated with 3COs, there remains a paucity of studies analyzing risk factors for mortality following 3CO. We believe the mortality rate after 3-column osteotomy will be low with specific identifiable demographic or medical risk factors.

Article Synopsis
  • Significant progress has been made in understanding how dietary protein impacts muscle health over the past 30 years, particularly in guiding recommendations on protein quantity, quality, source, and timing for optimal muscle function.
  • Current research emphasizes the importance of linking muscle health to broader health outcomes, including chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease and diabetes, especially in older adults.
  • The review suggests future studies should build on existing knowledge and explore new methods to address gaps in understanding dietary protein's role in overall health throughout the lifespan.

Molnupiravir, an FDA-approved nucleoside prodrug for treating COVID-19, converts into N4-hydroxycytidine triphosphate (NHC-TP), which integrates into SARS-CoV-2 RNA by its RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) causing lethal mutations in viral proteins. Due to the risk of RdRp-mediated drug resistance and potential off-target effects on host polymerases (e.g.
