Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) is a Pan-American emerging infectious disease with a high mortality rate caused by rodent-borne viruses of the genus Orthohantavirus. In Argentina, almost half of the HPS infections occur in the northwestern endemic region. In this study, we evaluated rodent composition, abundance, and antibody prevalence in wild rodents in three subtropical sites: primary forest, secondary forest, and crop fields.

Significance: Cellular metabolic dynamics can occur within milliseconds, yet there are no optimal tools to spatially and temporally capture these events. Autofluorescence imaging can provide metabolic information on the cellular level due to the intrinsic fluorescence of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (phosphate) [NAD(P)H] and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD).

Aim: Our goal is to build and evaluate a widefield microscope optimized for rapid autofluorescence imaging of metabolic changes in cells.

Coronary artery aneurysms are a relatively uncommon finding during coronary angiography and can present certain challenges in terms of treatment options. This may be due to unclear underlying mechanisms and varying presentations, as well as a lack of large-scale outcome data. In this case report we present the successful use of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in treating a 43-year-old male patient who presented with acute myocardial infarction and was discovered during angiography to have a saccular coronary aneurysm.

Background: We evaluated the microbial burden on gel polished nails (GPN), standard polished nails (SPN) and unpolished nails (UPN) before and after an alcohol-based hand rub (HHAB).

Methods: Three GPN, two SPN and five UPN in both hands were analyzed in 46 health-care workers volunteers. Nail length was maintained ≤2mm during the study.

: This study investigates the gut microbiota's role in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), focusing on microbial and functional signatures and sex-based differences. : Using baseline data from 98 MASLD patients and 45 controls from the Fatty Liver in Obesity (FLiO) study, the gut microbiota was profiled with 16S gene sequencing, followed by statistical and machine learning analyses to identify disease-associated microbial signatures. : Notable alpha and beta diversity differences were observed between MASLD patients and the controls, varying by sex.
