Background: Survival during the early period following myocardial infarction (MI) has significantly improved although there are limited data on cardiovascular recurrence during this period.
Methods: We identified all emergency hospitalisations for MI from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2016 in Western Australia from a linked hospitalisation/mortality dataset. Patients were included if they survived >3 days, had no acute kidney injury, and had ≥1 of: ≥65 years, prior MI, diabetes or peripheral arterial disease.
Introduction: The use of point-of-care (POC) devices within the home for routine INR monitoring has demonstrated reliability, safety and effectiveness in the management of infants and children requiring long-term warfarin therapy. However, a comprehensive cost-analysis of using this method of management, compared to attending anticoagulation clinics has not been reported. The aim of this study was to compare the estimated societal costs of attending anticoagulation clinics for routine INR monitoring to using a POC test in the home.

Methods: A total of 192 patients underwent coloanal anastomosis between 1982 and 2001 at two tertiary referral institutions. Standardized and validated questionnaires to assess functional and quality-of-life outcomes were mailed to 151 patients, of which 121 patients responded (median follow-up, 65 months).
Purpose: Long-term closure rates of anorectal fistulas using fibrin glue have been disappointing, possibly because of the liquid consistency of the glue. A suturable bioprosthetic plug (Surgisis, Cook Surgical, Inc.) was fashioned to close the primary opening of fistula tracts.

We characterized their gene and protein expression patterns to gain a better understanding of their roles in the regulation of limb development and growth. In order to compare and contrast the relative amounts of the respective mRNA species within the developing epiphysis, a competitive PCR assay was developed.
