Introduction: Animal models suggest a protective role of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) and angiotensin-II receptor blockers (ARBs) in reducing renal and cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury. Our aim was to determine the association between pre-transplant ACEi/ARBs use and the occurrence of delayed graft function (DGF) in patients who received a kidney transplantation from a deceased donor.

Methods: Consecutive recipients between 2008 and 2021 in 2 Canadian university-affiliated centers were included in this retrospective cohort study.

Glucokinase (GK) catalyses the key regulatory step in glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. Correspondingly, hetero- and homozygous mutations in human cause maturity-onset diabetes of the young (GCK-MODY) and permanent neonatal diabetes (PNDM), respectively. To explore the possible utility of glucokinase activators (GKA) and of glucagon-like receptor-1 (GLP-1) agonists in these diseases, we have developed a novel hypomorphic allele in mice encoding an aberrantly spliced mRNA deleted for exons 2 and 3.

According to a central tenet of classical immune theory, a healthy immune system must avoid self-reactive lymphocyte clones but we now know that B cells repertoire exhibit some level of autoreactivity. These autoreactive B cells are thought to rely on self-ligands for their clonal selection and survival. Here, we confirm that healthy mice exhibit self-reactive B cell clones that can be stimulated by agonists of toll-like receptor (TLR) 1/2, TLR4, TLR7 and TLR9 to secrete anti-LG3/perlecan.
