Correlation of the clinical rating scale for tremor with a global assessment.

Objective: The Fahn-Tolosa-Marín Clinical Rating Scale for Tremor (CRST) includes three parts (tremor severity, motor task performance, functional disability) and a separate global assessment of impairment completed by both the patient and examiner. Although the CRST is used to determine tremor severity and the efficacy of treatments for tremor, the instrument may not sufficiently capture the patient's perspective. The objective of this study was to determine the association of the CRST subpart and total scores with the global assessment.

Methodology for determining minimally clinically important differences in acute pain intensity with the double stopwatch technique.

Minimum clinically important differences (MCIDs) in acute pain intensity have not been well established. Conventional approaches for estimating MCIDs require an independent reference scale, with a threshold that must be presumed to accurately classify meaningful change in pain for all study participants, to serve as an anchor. The double stopwatch technique is the gold standard for measuring the time to meaningful relief, where participants actively press the second stopwatch when they experience pain relief that is meaningful to them.

Predicting Early Hospital Discharge Following Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty: An Analysis of a Large National Database Using Machine Learning.

Background: Revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA) was recently removed from the Medicare inpatient-only list. However, appropriate candidate selection for outpatient rTHA remains paramount. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the utility of a large national database using machine learning (ML) and traditional multivariable logistic regression (MLR) models in predicting early hospital discharge (< 24 hours) following rTHA.

Congenital Syphilis on the Rise: A Case Series and Discussion of Two Patients With Orthopaedic Manifestations of a Rare but Increasingly Common Disease.

Congenital syphilis is becoming increasingly common in the United States. Early identification and treatment are critical in preventing long-term sequelae, such as musculoskeletal deformity, and neurologic deficits. At our North American institution, two recent cases of congenital syphilis were identified primarily by their musculoskeletal manifestations.
