Trabecular bone structural units and their cement lines change with age, bone volume fraction, structure, and strength in female human vertebrae.

A lifetime of successive bone remodeling events leads to trabeculae which are composed of a patchwork of bone structural units (BSUs) called hemi-osteons or trabecular packets. Traditionally, only intact surface BSUs have been studied, which are those that have been created most recently. Accordingly, the complex changes in the size and distribution of BSU throughout the trabeculae have been overlooked.

Nonattendance in preventive child health examinations associated with increased risk of school-aged obesity in Denmark.

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate associations between attending routine preventive child health examinations in general practice and the risk of obesity and overweight at age six, focusing on psychosocial risk factors.

Methods: Data from nationwide Danish registers on 725 926 children born between 2000 and 2012 were analysed. Information on examination attendance and BMI was obtained.

Detecting new erosions in rheumatoid arthritis over one year - Radiography and high-resolution computed tomography of finger joints.

Objective: To compare the number of new erosions in two metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints over one year assessed by high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) and conventional radiography (CR). Furthermore, to estimate the diagnostic accuracy of erosive progression by CR with HR-pQCT as the reference standard.

Methods: Paired sets of image data were available from patients with RA (n=310), who underwent HR-pQCT and CR, including the 2nd and 3rd MCP joints only of the dominant hand at baseline and at the one-year follow-up.

Comparison of Patient-Reported Quality of Life Following Direct-to-Implant Prepectoral and Subpectoral Breast Reconstruction Using BREAST-Q: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

 Direct-to-implant breast reconstruction (DIR) is becoming more and more accepted. There is a lack of high-quality studies assessing differences in patient-reported quality of life (QoL) between different implant placement methods. The aim of this randomized controlled (clinical) trial was to compare QoL between women reconstructed by sub- or prepectoral implant placement.
