Accuracy of ultrasound signs on two-dimensional transvaginal ultrasound in prediction of adenomyosis: prospective multicenter study.

Objective: Two-dimensional (2D) transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) is an accessible and cost-effective diagnostic tool for the detection of adenomyosis. Different ultrasound features related to adenomyosis have been described, but the predictive value of each ultrasound sign and their combinations requires further investigation. We aimed to analyze the accuracy of 2D-TVS and describe possible combinations of ultrasound signs with a high predictive value in the diagnosis of adenomyosis.

Unexpected malignancies after laparoscopic-assisted supracervical hysterectomies (LASH): an analysis of 1,584 LASH cases.

Objective: The objective of this research was to identify the rate of unexpected malignancies after laparoscopic-assisted supracervical hysterectomies (LASH) and describe the therapy regime.

Methods: The research is based on a retrospective chart analysis of patients undergoing a simple hysterectomy in the gynecological endoscopy department of a general hospital in Germany.

Results: 2,577 simple hysterectomies conducted between March 2005 and March 2010 were sub-classified in different types of hysterectomies (vaginal-, abdominal-, total-, abdominal supracervical hysterectomy, LAVH, and LASH).

Attitudes to disability of Russian occupational therapy and nursing students.

Positive student attitudes toward disability are essential to client-centred rehabilitation. Instilling such attitudes in students enrolled in the first occupational therapy (OT) and post-diploma nursing management (NM) courses in Russia was a key objective of the curriculum development team. The team's aim was to combat the traditional Russian attitude of pity, dependence and marginalization.
