MRI signal intensity of anterior cruciate ligament graft after transtibial versus anteromedial portal technique (TRANSIG): A randomised controlled clinical trial.

Background: Two primary surgical femoral drilling techniques are used to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL): the transtibial (TT) technique and the anteromedial portal (AMP) technique. Currently there is no consensus on which surgical technique elicits the best clinical and functional outcomes. MRI-derived measures of the signal intensity (SI) of the ACL graft have been described as an independent predictor of graft properties.

Intrathoracic migration of a K-wire after percutaneous fixation of a proximal humerus fracture.

Proximal humerus fractures are common in elderly patients. Not all patient are fit for major surgery. Percutaneous fixation can be a suitable option though surgeons should be aware of the risks and complications.

Direct Anterior Approach for One-Stage Bilateral Total Hip Arthroplasty in an ASA 3 Wheelchair-Dependent Woman.

This case report involves a 79-year-old wheelchair-dependent woman with bilateral destructive coxarthrosis, requiring total hip arthroplasty (THA). Mobilization and transfers were unbearable due to the bilateral involvement of her hips. Performing unilateral THA would not be sufficient due to the coexisting pain from the contralateral side.

A Woman with Rheumatoid Arthritis and a Bilateral Fracture of the Proximal Tibia.

A 52-year-old woman presented herself with pain on the medial sides of the proximal tibia after a minimal trauma. Conventional X-rays did not show any pathology. However, the MRI showed a bilateral fracture of the proximal tibia.

Duration of the mosquitocidal effect of ivermectin.

Background: Ivermectin (IVM) reduces the lifespan of malaria-transmitting mosquitoes after feeding on humans treated with IVM. If this effect is sufficiently long and strong, IVM could form part of a drug combination that not only treats malaria patients but also reduces onward transmission. Limited data are available on the exact duration of the mosquitocidal effect of IVM; daily mosquito feeding assays are required for this.
