Background: Cardiogenic shock (CS) is associated with high mortality and medical therapies have failed to improve survival. Treatment with lactate is associated with improved cardiac function which may benefit this condition. Comprehensive hemodynamic assessment of lactate administration in CS is lacking, and the mechanisms underlying the cardiovascular effects of lactate in CS have not yet been elucidated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAims: This study aims to describe the prevalence of discordant mild/moderate aortic stenosis (AS) in a population-based study and to identify the mechanisms that lead to reduced stroke volume (SV) and discordant moderate AS.
Methods And Results: Discordant high-gradient (HG)-mild AS, defined as AVA > 1.5 cm2 and mean pressure gradient (MG) of 20-40 mmHg, and discordant low-gradient (LG) moderate AS, defined as AVA 1.
Background: The purpose of this study was to clarify the potentially life-saving critical interventions performed on children below the age of seven by the physician-manned mobile emergency care unit (MECU) in Odense, Denmark. We investigated critical interventions in relation to morbidity and mortality.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of all MECU missions involving children below the age of seven.

Background: We hypothesized that gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) increases the risk of urinary Group B Streptococcus (uGBS) colonization during pregnancy. The primary aim of this study was to compare the incidence of GDM between pregnant women with uGBS and those without uGBS.
Methods: From a population of 34,285 consecutive singleton pregnancies, we included the women 6,014 tested for uGBS.
