Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are fatty acids, containing more than one double bond and have both anti-inflammatory properties and inhibit tumor progression effects as well as carcinogenic properties. There is inconclusive evidence regarding the effect of PUFA intake on gastric cancer in diverse populations. We, therefore, aimed to determine the association between PUFA intake and risk of gastric cancer in a hospital-based case-control study comprising 1182 incident cases of gastric cancer and 2965 controls in Vietnam.

The overexpression and misfolding of viral proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) may cause cellular stress, thereby inducing a cytoprotective, proteostatic host response involving phosphorylation of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha (eIF2α). Here, we show that hepatitis A virus, a positive-strand RNA virus responsible for infectious hepatitis, adopts a stress-resistant, eIF2α-independent mechanism of translation to ensure the synthesis of viral proteins within the infected liver. Cap-independent translation directed by the hepatovirus internal ribosome entry site and productive hepatovirus infection of mice both require platelet-derived growth factor subunit A (PDGFA)-associated protein 1 (PDAP1), a small phosphoprotein of unknown function with eIF4E-binding activity.

Introduction: This study implemented a single-session oral health education and referral program in behavioral health settings serving people with psychiatric disabilities. The program was led by peer specialists ("peers")-lay community behavioral health workers with personal experience of mental health challenges who are trained and certified to support others.

Methods: Investigators collaborated with peers, state government, and clinical leadership to design and implement the program.

Purpose/objectives: Limited access to oral care disproportionately affects underserved populations. Community-based clinical education (CBCE) could address this health inequity. The purpose of this study was to compare the identified barriers and benefits of implementing CBCE in the curricula of US dental and dental hygiene education programs.
