Objective: To characterize the performance of titanium mesh (TM) (off-label) for rigid chest wall reconstruction at a single institution over a 5-year period.

Methods: Between January 1, 2019, and May 15, 2023, 22 patients (median age, 61 years) underwent chest wall resection with TM reconstruction at Cleveland Clinic. Indications for resection included sarcoma (n = 15), breast cancer (n = 2), lung cancer (n = 2), chondroblastoma (n = 1), and benign neoplasm (n = 2).

The innate immune system shapes brain development and is implicated in neurodevelopmental diseases. It is critical to define the relevant immune cells and signals and their impact on brain circuits. In this work, we found that group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) and their cytokine interleukin-13 (IL-13) signaled directly to inhibitory interneurons to increase inhibitory synapse density in the developing mouse brain.

Introduction: People with opioid use disorder (OUD) on buprenorphine smoke at high rates and have low cessation rates, even with evidence-based medications. Electronic cigarettes (EC) are a promising harm reduction strategy for combusted cigarette (CC) smokers unable to quit. Unfortunately, people with OUD are underrepresented in EC research.

Objectives: There is a paucity of data describing the frequency and complications of body piercing injuries (BPI) in the United States.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) to identify emergency department (ED) visits for BPI from 2011-2020 and to estimate prevalence among US individuals ≤24 years of age. Additionally, estimates for infections, requirements for hospitalization/transfer, and exploring significant associations were investigated.
