Clinical manifestation of IgA deficiency.

Thirty patients, 2-12 years of age, with selective IgA deficiency or low level of IgA were investigated. Among them we found 5 children with coeliac disease, 15 with milk protein intolerance. Recurrent respiratory tract infections, otitis, septicemia and urinary tract infections were also frequently noted.

[Congenital and acquired cytomegalovirus infection in infants confirmed by virologic studies].

Sixty infants in whom clinical symptoms suspected of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection were studied. CMV infection was found in 50% of the subjects. The diagnosis was based on studies of specific antibodies and isolation of the virus from urine and/or throat swabs.

[Mastoiditis--a forgotten disease?].

The symptoms and clinical course of latent mastoiditis in 18. children treated in Polish-American Children's Hospital in Cracow were presented. The ultimate diagnosis of mastoiditis was based on typical findings on antrotomy and the presence of granulation on histology of the tissue obtained during the operation.
