Joint debridement by a meticulous surgical technique has been performed for advanced knee arthropathy in three hemophiliacs between the ages of 22 and 27. The results at follow-up evaluation, ranging from one to five years, have been surprisingly good. The procedure involves comparatively little surgical trauma and appears to have a low rate of complications.

Camptocormia is a conversion type of hysteria, found mainly in recruited soldiers. The condition is characterized by powerful hyperflexion of the trunk and pains in the lumbar region. Characteristically, the anthropoidal posture disappears entirely during sleep when the patient is lying on the back.

Resurfacing arthroplasty according to Wagner was used in 40 hips (31 patients) with coxarthrosis or arthritis. The severe, disabling preoperative pain was eliminated in all patients. There was a considerable increase in range of movement, and the functional results were very good.

A follow-up study was made to compare the effect of surgical reduction and stabilization of unstable vertebral fractures with the results of conservative treatment. Twenty patients treated by conservative methods and 18 patients subjected to surgical stabilization were analyzed with respect to period of immobilization, healing time, degree of residual deformity, neurological restitution and incidence of complications. The wide variety of initial impairment did not permit any definite conclusions with regard to neurological restitution.
