The Vienna Genesis: An Example of Late Antique Purple Parchment.

The investigation and conservation of the Vienna Genesis, a Late Antique manuscript on purple parchment, included the study of parchment production and purple dyeing in the sixth century. The process of parchment making and of purple dyeing was recreated and compared with the Vienna Genesis and other manuscripts from the sixth and eighth centuries. Parchment made from the hides of young lambs and dyed with orchil resembled the folios of the Vienna Genesis.

Vaccine hesitancy (VH) is a complex and context-specific phenomenon that is linked to under-immunization and poses challenges to immunization programs. The Parent Attitudes about Childhood Vaccines (PACV) is an instrument developed to measure VH. We translated the PACV into three languages (German, French and Italian) and administered it to 1388 Swiss parents.

Pitfall prayer marks: Recognition and appropriate treatment: A case report and review of literature.

Prayer marks are asymptomatic callosities resulting from repeated, extended pressure, and friction exerted on bony prominences when praying on hard ground. A 41-year-old woman with ulcerative colitis treated with infliximab was referred to our clinic due to skin changes on her feet that were suspected to be drug eruptions. The patient presented several asymptomatic, hyperpigmented, and hyperkeratotic plaques over the lateral malleoli suggesting that the lesions had a mechanical cause.

Determinants of vaccine hesitancy in Switzerland: study protocol of a mixed-methods national research programme.

Introduction: Vaccine hesitancy is a complex public health issue referring to concerns about the safety, efficacy or need for vaccination. Relatively little is known about vaccine hesitancy in Switzerland. This ongoing study (2017-2021) focuses on biomedical and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) providers and their patients since healthcare professionals play important roles in vaccination decision-making.
