Diagnostic and Therapeutic Management of Infection in Primary Care: Perspective of Application in France and Narrative Review of the Literature.

Background: () infection affects 30% to 40% of people in industrialized countries.

Aim: This study aimed to synthesize knowledge on the diagnostic and therapeutic management of infection in general practice in people under 40 years of age.

Method: A narrative review of the literature with an inductive content analysis of the articles was performed.

[Altered plasma melatonin concentrations after administration of propofol in continuous infusion].

Objective: To determine possible variations in plasma levels of melatonin in patients sedated with propofol administered in continuous infusion.

Patients And Methods: Healthy patients receiving spinal anesthesia for lower limb orthopedic surgery were randomized to 2 groups in this prospective study: group A patients were sedated with intravenous propofol infused at a rate of 3 to 4 mg kg(-1) h(-1) and group B underwent surgery without sedation. Data from these groups were compared with data from 2 other groups.

[Total hip arthroplasty in the presence of sepsis].

Sixty-seven cases of total arthroplasty of the hip in the presence of sepsis performed between 1974 and 1986 were reviewed. These prostheses were inserted in 57 cases to replace septic prostheses. Forty-six were infected total hip prostheses and 11 were infected head and neck replacement femoral prostheses.
