Ultrasound Induces Similar Temporal Endothelial Expression Patterns of eNOS and KLF2 as Normal Flow.

Objective: To determine the sensitivity of vascular endothelial cells to long durations of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) compared to normal flow and identify the duration that maximizes expression of two mechanosensitive genes related to healthy endothelial function, endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and Krüppel-like factor 2 (KLF2).

Methods: Custom ultrasound exposure tanks were developed and the acoustic field was characterized. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were seeded into culture plates and exposed to LIPUS at a frequency of 1 MHz and acoustic pressure of 217 kPa for 20 min, 1 h, 6 h, 9 h, or 24 h.

Artificial intelligence technologies present the potential to further augment and expedite the accuracy, quality, and efficiency at which diagnosis can be made when used as an adjunctive tool. Such techniques, if found to be accurate and reliable in their diagnostic acuity, can be implemented to foster better clinical decision-making, improving patient quality of care while reducing healthcare costs.

Real-World Safety and Effectiveness of Voretigene Neparvovec: Results up to 2 Years from the Prospective, Registry-Based PERCEIVE Study.

Voretigene neparvovec (VN) is the first available gene therapy for patients with biallelic -mediated inherited retinal dystrophy who have sufficient viable retinal cells. PERCEIVE is an ongoing, post-authorization, prospective, multicenter, registry-based observational study and is the largest study assessing the real-world, long-term safety and effectiveness of VN. Here, we present the outcomes of 103 patients treated with VN according to local prescribing information.
