First-line treatment with capecitabine combined with irinotecan in patients with advanced colorectal carcinoma: a phase II study.

Goals: To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of capecitabine with irinotecan as first-line treatment in metastatic colorectal cancer.

Background: The addition of irinotecan to infusional 5 fluorouracil and leucovorin significantly improves the response rate and survival compared with 5 fluorouracil/leucovorin alone in metastatic colorectal cancer. Capecitabine with irinoteacan was reported to yield comparable results in phase II studies.

[Gynecomastia as a complication of hormonotherapy for prostate cancer: effect of prophylactic breast irradiation].

Gynecomastia is a benign condition characterized by proliferation of mammary glandular tissue. Hormonotherapy with bicalutamide for prostate cancer is one of the causes of gynecomastia. The well known aim of treatment is to decrease psychological distress and to improve cosmetic appearance.

It has been presented a new technique for measuring thyroxine based on the method first proposed by Murphy & Pattee 1964. This method was compared to Braverman et al. 1971 technique and to Seligson & Seligson's 1971 one.
