Background: Levothyroxine (LT4) is recommended to be ingested in a fasting state, 30-60 minutes before breakfast to avoid interactions with food and drugs. In clinical practice, we noticed that this instruction may be inconvenient for patients. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate patient experiences and preferences concerning the recommended fasting administration of LT4.

Resource availability alters breeding strategies in a small mammal community.

Following a resource pulse, animals may finance reproduction by consuming concurrently available resources (income breeding) or by storing resources for future reproduction (capital breeding). Understanding how these reproductive strategies are used is important for determining the ecological mechanisms that structure timing of reproduction and that drive interannual population fluctuations in animals. We gathered a reproductive dataset for five small mammal species over a 12-year period in Northeastern USA during which six masting events of American beech (Fagus grandifolia) and eastern hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) occurred.

Background: The use of stemless shoulder arthroplasty for osteoarthritis has grown substantially over the past decades. The goal of this study is to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of the Lima SMR stemless anatomic and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.

Methods: Seventy-three implants in 73 patients (61 anatomic total shoulder arthroplasties [aTSAs] and 12 reverse shoulder arthroplasties [RSAs]) were analyzed with a minimum follow-up of 2 years.

The glycolysis process of flexible polyurethane foams containing styrene-acrylonitrile and calcium carbonate as fillers was explored in detail. The use of DABCO as a catalyst allowed us to reduce the catalyst concentration and the polyurethane-to-glycol mass ratio to 0.1% and 1:1, respectively.

Deferring diagnostic evaluation of suspected deep vein thrombosis using direct oral anticoagulant or low-molecular-weight heparin as a single dose anticoagulant: A prospective real-world study in a regionwide care pathway.

Background: Patients with suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT) are typically referred to the emergency department for immediate evaluation. To enhance efficiency, our hospital implemented a regional, general practitioner (GP)-driven DVT care pathway, deferring diagnostic evaluation to a scheduled outpatient DVT clinic appointment the following day. Patients receive a single dose anticoagulant from their GP to prevent thrombosis progression while awaiting diagnostic workup.
