Impact of structural variations and genome partitioning on bread wheat hybrid performance.

The agronomical interest of hybrid wheat has long been a matter of debate. Compared to maize where hybrids have been successfully grown for decades, the mixed results obtained in wheat have been attributed at least partially to the lack of heterotic groups. The wheat genome is known to be strongly partitioned and characterized by numerous presence/absence variations and alien introgressions which have not been thoroughly considered in hybrid breeding.

Optimising the review of electronic monitoring information for management of commercial fisheries.

Unlabelled: Electronic monitoring (EM) systems incorporating cameras and other devices can collect a broad range of data to support fisheries management. We reviewed the data collection capabilities of EM and considered approaches to increasing efficiency, including cost effectiveness, of EM review. EM can provide information on catch, effort, catch handling, bycatch mitigation, fishing gear and operational data, which are relevant for fisheries management including by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs).

Effects of a Sorghum Beverage with on Body Composition, Lipid Profiles, and Intestinal Health in Overweight and Obese Adults: A Randomized Single-Blind Pilot Study.

(1) Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an extruded whole-grain sorghum beverage containing on body composition, lipid profiles, and intestinal health in overweight and obese adults. (2) Methods: A chronic, single-blind randomized controlled pilot study was conducted with 30 volunteers allocated to three groups ( = 10/group): extruded sorghum beverage (ESB), extruded sorghum beverage with (ESPB), and control beverage (CB) (waxy maize starch). The chemical composition of the beverages was analyzed.

Fecal microbial transplants as investigative tools in cancer.

The gut microbiome plays a critical role in the development, progression, and treatment of cancer. As interest in microbiome-immune-cancer interactions expands, the prevalence of fecal microbial transplant (FMT) models has increased proportionally. However, current literature does not provide adequate details or consistent approaches to allow for necessary rigor and experimental reproducibility.

Epigenetic control of commensal induced Th2 Responses and Intestinal immunopathology.

Unlabelled: Understanding the initiation of T-helper (Th)-2 immunity is crucial for addressing allergic diseases that have been linked to the commensal microbiota. However, Th2 responses are notably absent from known host-microbiota intestinal immune circuits. Notably, the commensal protist induces a transient innate ILC2 circuit rather than a chronic Th2 circuit.
