Cardiovascular complications claim the lives of up to 70% of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). The mechanisms increasing cardiovascular risk in DM remain to be fully understood and successfully addressed. Nonetheless, there is increasing evidence in the scientific literature of the participation of platelets in the cardiovascular complications of DM.

Co-occurrence of adeno-associated virus 2 and human enteric adenovirus (group F) in wastewater after worldwide outbreaks of acute hepatitis of unknown etiology (AHUE).

In 2022, several cases of acute hepatitis of unknown etiology (AHUE) have been associated with Adeno-associated virus 2 (AAV-2) and the common childhood virus Adenovirus 41 (AdV-41). This outbreak has resulted in serious complications in patients which included 5 % of individuals requiring a liver transplant and 22 deaths. Before these AHUE cases, no previous information had been reported regarding the co-infections and co-occurrence of these two viruses in the human population.

Zero-covid advocacy during the COVID-19 pandemic: a case study of views on Twitter/X.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many advocacy groups and individuals criticized governments on social media for doing either too much or too little to mitigate the pandemic. In this article, we review advocacy for COVID-19 elimination or "zero-covid" on the social media platform X (Twitter). We present a thematic analysis of tweets by 20 influential co-signatories of the World Health Network letter on ten themes, covering six topics of science and mitigation (zero-covid, epidemiological data on variants, long-term post-acute sequelae (Long COVID), vaccines, schools and children, views on monkeypox/Mpox) and four advocacy methods (personal advice and promoting remedies, use of anecdotes, criticism of other scientists, and of authorities).

Strain and serenity: exploring the interplay of stress, burnout, and well-being among healthcare professionals.

Introduction: Stress and burnout can negatively affect performance, mental health, and the overall well-being of healthcare workers. The study aims to examine the prevalence of stress and burnout, and investigate links between stress, burnout, mental state, and well-being among healthcare workers in the Czech Republic.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in the Czech Republic, focusing on healthcare professionals working in various healthcare settings.
