Medial buttress plate use in neck of femur fracture fixations: A systematic review.

Background: Femoral neck fractures, particularly Pauwels type II and III, pose significant challenges due to their vertical instability and susceptibility to complications such as non-union and avascular necrosis (AVN). Medial buttress plates (MBPs) have emerged as a promising adjunct in fixation, offering biomechanical advantages by neutralizing shearing forces and enhancing stability. However, the clinical efficacy of MBPs across different fixation techniques, plate configurations, and positioning remains unclear.

Anterior shoulder instability in patients older than 40 years treated with arthroscopic Bankart repair.

Background: Anterior shoulder instability in adults aged ≥40 years is frequently managed nonoperatively. There is limited published evidence for the surgical management of these patients. This study aims to assess the risk of recurrence and functional outcomes in older adults after arthroscopic Bankart repair (ARB).

[A case of affective disorder with psychotic symptoms as late manifestation of Huntington's Chorea].

We report about a woman of 60 years who received psychiatric inpatient treatment for an affective disorder with psychotic symptoms on several occasions. As time elapsed symptoms of dementia became more and more obvious. Despite a comprehensive workup with neuroimaging methods (SPECT, PET) the correct diagnosis of Huntington's Chorea was not attained until the characteristic movements appeared.

[Transdermal rivastigmine patch in outpatient services in Austria: a naturalistic study in 103 patients with Alzheimer dementia].

We performed a 6-month open-label study on the use of the transdermal rivastigmine patch in clinical routine in 103 patients with Alzheimer's disease from 25 outpatient services in Austria. After baseline, safety and tolerability of the 10 cm2--rivastigmine patch was assessed at week 4, 12 and 24 in all patients. A Mini Mental State Examination was done at baseline and at week 12 and 24.
