Background: Black men are more likely to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (T2D) compared to non-Hispanic White men, especially those over 55 years of age. Although there is ample evidence around the efficacy of peer-led diabetes self-management and support (PLDSMS) programs in improving diabetes health outcomes, Black men living with T2D experience several barriers to meaningful participation in peer-led programs and program developers face barriers to implementation. This qualitative study aimed to identify perspectives from collaborators on barriers and facilitators that impact the implementation of a PLDSMS intervention for older Black men with T2D.

Aims: The World Health Organization states that physical inactivity is one of the leading behavioural risk factors for disability and mortality in Europe. Social prescribing holds promise as a possible solution by connecting patients from general practice to community-based physical activity. Although research within social prescribing exists, the process of connecting general practice patients to community-based physical activity is not well investigated.

Introduction: Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are common musculoskeletal pain conditions that can significantly impact daily activities such as eating, talking, breathing, intimacy, and expressing emotion. TMDs are often complex and multifactorial, and many patients experience overlapping pain conditions, sleep difficulties, and mental health challenges. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) has called for improved TMD education and training for health professionals, as current training opportunities are limited.

Drought stress severely impedes plant growth, development, and yield. Therefore, it is critical to uncover the genetic mechanisms underlying drought resistance to ensure future food security. To identify the genetic controls of these responses in Sorghum, an agriculturally and economically important grain crop, an interspecific recombinant inbred line (RIL) population was established by crossing a domesticated inbred line of Sorghum bicolor (TX7000) with its wild relative, Sorghum propinquum.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and patient satisfaction of telegenetic counseling (tele-GC) versus traditional in-person genetic counseling (in-person GC) for Huntington disease (HD) genetic testing, addressing accessibility issues faced by patients due to geography or cost.
  • Results showed high satisfaction levels for both counseling methods, with median satisfaction scores of 10/10, but most symptomatic HD participants preferred in-person counseling, despite tele-GC's advantage in reducing travel time.
  • Participants reported that visual interaction with genetic counselors helped with understanding and emotional engagement, although some technical difficulties arose during tele-GC sessions.
