A group of youth with severe and enduring mental health problems (SEMHP) falls between the cracks of the child-and-adolescent psychiatry (CAP) system. An insufficient understanding of these youth's mental health problems results in a failure to accurately identify and provide support to these youth. To gain a deeper understanding, the aim of this study is to explore characteristics of youth with SEMHP in clinical practice based on the experiences of youth and clinicians in CAP.

Supramolecular adducts between dimethyl-2,2,3,3-tetracyanocyclopropane (Me TCCP) with 21 small (polar) molecules and 10 anions were computed with DFT (B3LYP-D3/def2-TZVP). Their optimized geometries were used to obtain interaction energies, and perform energy decomposition and 'atoms-in-molecules' analyses. A set of 38 other adducts were also evaluated for comparison purposes.

We report the direct observation of tetrel bonding interactions between sp-carbons of the supramolecular synthon 3,3-dimethyl-tetracyanocyclopropane () and tetrahydrofuran in the gas and crystalline phase. The intermolecular contact is established σ-holes and is driven mainly by electrostatic forces. The complex manifests distinct binding geometries when captured in the crystalline phase and in the gas phase.

1,1,2,2-Tetracyanocyclopropane derivatives 1 and 2 were designed and synthesized to probe the utility of sp -C centred tetrel bonding interactions in crystal engineering. The crystal packing of 1 and 2 and their 1,4-dioxane cocrystals is dominated by sp -C(CN) ⋅⋅⋅O interactions, has significant C⋅⋅⋅O van der Waals overlap (≤0.266 Å) and DFT calculations indicate interaction energies of up to -11.

Polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) rich micro-algal oil was tested in vitro and compared with fish oil for antiproliferative properties on cancer cells in vitro. Oils derived from Crypthecodinium cohnii, Schizochytrium sp. and Nitzschia laevis, three commercial algal oil capsules, and menhaden fish oil were used in cell viability and proliferation tests with human colon adenocarcinoma Caco-2 cells.
