Background: Children with speech, language, and communication disorders require specialized support in response to their emotional expression challenges. Not only is such support key for their development, but it is also essential for their mental well-being. Art making emerges as a valuable tool for enabling these children to convey emotions both verbally and non-verbally, fostering a positive self-concept.

Development of a Second-Generation, Chemical Probe for PIKfyve.

We optimized our highly potent and cell-active chemical probe for phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate 5-kinase (PIKfyve), SGC-PIKFYVE-1, resulting in compounds with improved potency and demonstrated stability. Use of an in-cell, kinome-wide selectivity panel allowed for confirmation of excellent in-cell selectivity of our lead compound, , and another promising analogue, . Evaluation of the pharmacokinetic (PK) profiles of these two compounds revealed that both are well tolerated systemically and orally bioavailable.

Parents' lived experience of support through their neonate's end of life and grief journey: An interpretative phenomenology study.

Medical and pharmacological advancements have influenced the ability to treat acutely ill neonates. However, complications of prematurity mean that death is unpreventable in some cases. The aim of this study was to explore parents' lived experiences of end of life care and their perceptions of support needs during and following the death of their baby in neonatal intensive care units in the United Kingdom.

Exploring the prevalence of gout among underrepresented low socioeconomic status type 2 diabetes populations.

Background: Underserved and underrepresented populations often lack access to affordable, quality healthcare, educational resources, and nutritious foods, all of which contribute to increased risk of Type 2 Diabetes and gout. Type 2 Diabetes is a condition characterized by the denaturation of the insulin receptors, due to chronically high blood glucose levels, leading to impaired regulation of blood sugar. Gout is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting joints in the lower limbs, marked by elevated serum urate levels and the accumulation of uric acid crystals in synovial fluid, causing painful flare-ups that significantly impact quality of life.
