Assessment of photon and proton-induced activation in particles accelerators.

Nuclear activation affects all operating, future, or dismantled particle accelerators used in various fields, from medical applications to industrial applications. This work is concerned with the study of the radioactivity induced in various materials (Sc, Cu, Tb, Ta, W, Au) irradiated by hard Bremsstrahlung photons from an electron beam and by secondary neutrons induced by a proton beam. In both cases, the primary beam features an 18 MeV kinetic energy.

Mirizzi syndrome is a rare complication of chronic gallstone disease characterised by the compression of the common bile duct due to an impacted lithiasis in the infundibulum of the gallbladder or cystic duct. In this case study, we discuss an 85-yearold patient who presented with Mirizzi syndrome associated with septic shock. She was not eligible for cholecystectomy due to her advanced age and frailty, requiring a less invasive alternative.

Use of a "baby bottle" to allow a "better-than-nothing" death in older adults infected by COVID-19 in Quebec retirement homes - A case study.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the forefront profound questions surrounding dying and the concept of a "good death". This qualitative case study, conducted in a health center in Quebec, Canada, severely affected by outbreaks during the pandemic's first wave, explores end-of-life care for older adults in retirement homes. Through thirty interviews with healthcare practitioners, researchers, and managers, we investigate the critical role of a pharmacological device referred to as the "baby bottle" in providing end-of-life care to older adults infected with COVID-19 in their homes.

Inhibitors and Supporters of Policy Change in the Regulation of Unhealthy Food Marketing in Australia.

Background: Evidence on the impact of policies that regulate unhealthy food marketing demonstrates a need for a shift from pure industry self-regulation toward statutory regulation. Institutional rules, decision-making procedures, actor practices, and institutional norms influence the regulatory choices made by policy-makers. This study examined institutional processes that sustain, support, or inhibit change in the food marketing regulation in Australia using the three pillars of institutions framework - regulatory, normative, and cultural cognitive pillars.

Clinical Developments and Challenges in Treating FGFR2-Driven Gastric Cancer.

Recent advances in the treatment of gastric cancer (GC) with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, anti-angiogenic therapy and targeted therapies have yielded some improvement in survival outcomes; however, metastatic GC remains a lethal malignancy and amongst the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Importantly, the ongoing molecular characterisation of GCs continues to uncover potentially actionable molecular targets. Among these, aberrant FGFR2-driven signalling, predominantly arising from amplification, occurs in approximately 3-11% of GCs.
