Acute and chronic detrimental effects induced by short-chain chlorinated paraffins in the marine mysid Neomysis awatschensis.

To determine the potentially detrimental impacts of short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), we conducted assessments of acute effects on 96-h survival rate and biochemical markers, as well as chronic and multigenerational impacts on growth and reproduction over three generations in the marine mysid, Neomysis awatschensis. Dose-dependent increase of mortality was measured in both juvenile and adult mysids for 96 h. Exposure to the LC10 value (derived from the 96-h acute toxicity value) significantly reduced feeding activity in juveniles, accompanied by a significant elevation in oxidative stress and a reduction in acetylcholinesterase activity.

Worldwide 56·8 million people need palliative care (PC), and Africa shows the highest demand. This study updates the 2017 review of African PC development, using a scoping review methodology based on Arksey and O'Malley's framework and the PRISMA-ScR checklist. The review was conducted across PUBMED, CINAHL, Embase, government websites, and the African PC Association Atlas, from 2017 to 2023, charting its progress using the new WHO framework for PC Development, which, in addition to Services, Education, Medicines, and Policies, two new dimensions were incorporated: Research and Empowerment of people and Communities.

The Heptageniidae family stands out as one of the most abundant and widespread among mayflies, distinguished by its unique mitochondrial characteristics in intergenic spacers and duplication of transfer RNA (tRNA) genes. In this dataset, we present the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of (Navás, 1912), a member of the Heptageniidae family of mayflies. The total length of the mitogenome was determined to be 15,362 base pairs, encompassing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 23 tRNA genes, and two ribosomal RNA genes.
