Background: Factors associated with severe COVID-19 infection have been identified; however, the impact of infection on longer-term outcomes is unclear. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 infection on the trajectory of lung function and nutritional status in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF).

Methods: This is a retrospective global cohort study of pwCF who had confirmed COVID-19 infection diagnosed between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021.

Unlabelled: Drugs that kill tumors through multiple mechanisms have the potential for broad clinical benefits. Here, we first developed an in silico multiomics approach (BipotentR) to find cancer cell-specific regulators that simultaneously modulate tumor immunity and another oncogenic pathway and then used it to identify 38 candidate immune-metabolic regulators. We show the tumor activities of these regulators stratify patients with melanoma by their response to anti-PD-1 using machine learning and deep neural approaches, which improve the predictive power of current biomarkers.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study looked at how often a problem called clinically significant pseudophakic macular edema (CSPME) happens after a type of eye surgery using a specific lens technique in Belgium.
  • - They checked the health records of 2419 adults who had this eye surgery between 2013 and 2018 to find any risk factors that might increase the chance of developing CSPME.
  • - The results showed that CSPME was really rare, especially for people without any risk factors, and that certain health issues like kidney problems and eye diseases made it more likely to occur.
