Use of historical remote monitoring data to determine predictors of CPAP non-compliance in patients with OSA.

Purpose: Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the gold standard treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea. This study aimed to use complete usage data collected remotely from modern CPAP devices to identify compliance trends and clinical predictors of CPAP usage.

Methods: Group usage data were analysed for a large cohort at a single tertiary sleep-centre before a detailed review of a 90-day reporting window for each patient was conducted.

Use of 5-mm Staple in Neonatal Intestinal Surgery.

The use of staples to perform intestinal anastomosis in children has gained popularity in the past years. The aim of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of pediatric patients who underwent intestinal anastomosis with a 5-mm staple in a tertiary health care center. From April 2017 to November 2019, the records of all pediatric patients who underwent intestinal anastomosis with a 5-mm staple were retrospectively revised.

Rehabilitation of hemineglect of the left arm using movement detection bracelets activating a visual and acoustic alarm.

Background: Hemineglect is frequent after right hemisphere stroke and prevents functional independence, but effective rehabilitation interventions are lacking. Our objective was to determine if a visual-acoustic alarm in the hemineglect arm activated by a certain discrepancy in movement of both hands can enhance neglect arm use in five tasks of daily living.

Methods: In this pre-post intervention study 9 stroke patients with residual hemineglect of the arm were trained for 7 days in five bimanual tasks of daily living: carrying a tray, button fastening, cutting food with knife and fork, washing the face with both hands and arm sway while walking.

Generalized Models for the Classification of Abnormal Movements in Daily Life and its Applicability to Epilepsy Convulsion Recognition.

The identification and the modeling of epilepsy convulsions during everyday life using wearable devices would enhance patient anamnesis and monitoring. The psychology of the epilepsy patient penalizes the use of user-driven modeling, which means that the probability of identifying convulsions is driven through generalized models. Focusing on clonic convulsions, this pre-clinical study proposes a method for generating a type of model that can evaluate the generalization capabilities.

Brunner's gland hamartoma of the duodenum.

Brunner's gland hamartoma (BGH) is a rare benign tumour of the duodenum. We present a case of duodenal obstruction caused by a BGH, which required surgical resection after a failed attempt at endoscopic removal.
