Intra-arterial transplantation of neural stem cells improve functional recovery after transient ischemic stroke in adult rats.

Objectives: The neural stem cell transplantation has been proposed as alternative therapy to promote functional recovery after various neurological disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of intra-arterial transplantation of adult neural stem cells on improving local brain ischemia injuries.

Acute severe carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning induces hypoxia that leads to cardiovascular and nervous systems disturbances. Different complex mechanisms lead to CO neurotoxicity including lipid peroxidation, inflammatory and immune-mediated reactions, myelin degeneration and finally neuronal apoptosis and necrosis. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) is considered to be a novel neuroprotective agent.

Neuroprotective effects of crocin on the histopathological alterations following brain ischemia-reperfusion injury in rat.

Objectives: Some histopathological alterations take place in the ischemic regions following brain ischemia. Recent studies have demonstrated some neuroprotective roles of crocin in different models of experimental cerebral ischemia. Here, we investigated the probable neuroprotective effects of crocin on the brain infarction and histopathological changes after transient model of focal cerebral ischemia.
