Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent complication following liver transplantation (LT) that has a multifactorial etiology. While some perioperative risk factors have been associated with postoperative AKI, the impact of liver graft weight to recipient body weight ratio (GW/RBW) has been poorly explored. We hypothesized that a high GW/RBW ratio would be associated with AKI after LT.

The effect of the addition of nefopam to intraoperative ketoprofen and acetaminophen on postoperative morphine requirements after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: Few studies investigated the use of nefopam for pain control after laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the context of multimodal analgesia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding nefopam to ketoprofen and acetaminophen given before the end of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Methods: In this double-blind, controlled study, 90 patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy during sevoflurane-dexmedetomidine-based anesthesia were randomized to receive either ketoprofen and acetaminophen or nefopam, ketoprofen, and acetaminophen for postoperative pain control before the end of surgery.

We previously analyzed gene expression in tissue from the mouse medial nucleus of the trapezoid body (MNTB) during the first postnatal week to study changes that surround rapid growth of the large calyx of Held (CH) nerve terminal. Here, we present genes that show significant changes in gene expression level during the second postnatal week, a developmental timeframe that brackets the onset of airborne sound stimulation and the early stages of myelination.
