Relapse represents a consistent clinical problem for individuals with substance use disorder. In the incubation of craving model of persistent craving and relapse, cue-induced drug seeking progressively intensifies or "incubates" during the first weeks of abstinence from drug self-administration and then remains high for months. Previously, we and others have demonstrated that expression of incubated cocaine craving requires strengthening of excitatory synaptic transmission in the nucleus accumbens core (NAcc).

The effects of vanillin-mediated cross-linking and the incorporation of antimicrobial green tea polyphenols were investigated. The cross-linking effect, confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis, increased the tensile strength of the biopolymer film to 20.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA multidrug-resistant strain of () sequence type (ST) 1788, an otherwise uncommon ST worldwide, was isolated from 65 patients at 11 hospitals and 11 general practices across South and West Wales, UK, between February 2019 and November 2021. A collection of 97 ST1788 isolates (including 94 from Wales) was analysed to investigate the diversity and spread across Wales and to identify molecular marker(s) to aid development of a strain-specific real-time PCR. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) was performed with Illumina technology and the data were used to perform phylogenetic analyses.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe Galileo mission to Jupiter revealed that Europa is an ocean world. The Galileo magnetometer experiment in particular provided strong evidence for a salty subsurface ocean beneath the ice shell, likely in contact with the rocky core. Within the ice shell and ocean, a number of tectonic and geodynamic processes may operate today or have operated at some point in the past, including solid ice convection, diapirism, subsumption, and interstitial lake formation.
