DNA-binding protein A (DbpA) belongs to the Y-box family of cold shock domain (CSD) proteins that bind RNA/DNA and exert intracellular functions in cell stress, proliferation, and differentiation. Given the pattern of DbpA staining in inflammatory glomerular diseases, without adherence to cell boundaries, we hypothesized extracellular protein occurrence and specific functions. Lipopolysaccharide and ionomycin induce DbpA expression and secretion from melanoma and mesangial cells.

This review explores the clinical presentation of lower extremity DVT and pulmonary embolism (PE), treatment strategies, and outcomes for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in the pediatric population. Traditional therapy for pediatric VTE was anticoagulation alone with thrombolysis and surgery reserved only in life or limb-threatening cases. Catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT), pharmacomechanical thrombectomy (PMT) and mechanical thrombectomy (MT) have emerged as effective and safe treatment options for VTE management.

Minimizing and managing needle and instrument loss during pediatric robotic surgery.

Introduction: Lost objects and equipment malfunctions during robotic and laparoscopic cases can lead to an increase in operating time and potential risk to the patient. The literature on the management of foreign bodies during pediatric robotic-assisted surgery is limited. The purpose of the video is to review proper instrument handling to prevent loss of an object and to propose our technique for retrieving lost objects through two pediatric case examples.
