Background And Aims: Pancreatitis is the most common serious adverse event associated with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). This meta-analysis aimed to precisely assess the risk factors for post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP).

Methods: We searched electronic databases for studies that assessed risk factors for PEP after adjusting for ≥3 risk factors, including at least one pre-specified patient-related and one procedure-related risk factor, and reported the data as adjusted odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals.

One of the most important goals in biomedical sciences is understanding the causal mechanisms of neurodegeneration. A prevalent hypothesis relates to impaired waste clearance mechanisms from the brain due to reported waste aggregation in the brains of Alzheimer patients, including amyloid-β plaques and neurofibrillary tau tangles. Currently, our understanding of the mechanisms by which waste is removed from the brain is only fragmentary.

DNA damage repair (DDR) proteins are well recognized as guardians of the genome that are frequently lost during malignant transformation of normal cells across cancer types. To date, their tumor suppressor functions have been generally regarded as a consequence of their roles in maintaining genomic stability: more genomic instability increases the risk of oncogenic transformation events. However, recent discoveries centering around DNA mismatch repair (MMR) proteins suggest a broader impact of the loss of DDR proteins on cellular processes beyond genomic instability.

Background: Esophageal cancer management lacks reliable response predictors to chemotherapy. In this study we evaluated the feasibility and accuracy of Biodynamic Imaging (BDI), a technology that employs digital holography as a rapid predictor of chemotherapy sensitivity in locoregional esophageal adenocarcinoma.

Methods: Pre-treatment endoscopic pinch biopsies were collected from patients with esophageal adenocarcinoma during standard staging procedures.
