Introduction: The University of Washington Department of Surgery (DoS) Diversity Council created a survey to understand our socio-demographics, identify gaps regarding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and support efforts prioritizing DEI.
Methods: An anonymous, voluntary online survey was administered over 5 weeks to DoS members. Quantitative and qualitative analysis were performed using SurveyMonkey and Dedoose, respectively.
Purpose: This study aims to analyze global prescribing patterns for analgosedation in neonates during four critical care scenarios. The research explores existing patterns, their association with geographic and sociodemographic index (SDI), and adherence to evidence-based practices.
Methods: Data from a 2024 global survey of 924 responses to 28 questions were analyzed, focusing on four items for their high variability: premedication in intubation (Q17), sedation in preterm (Q19) and full-term newborns (Q23), and perinatal asphyxia (Q26).
By combining in silico, biophysical, and in vitro experiments, we decipher the topology, physical, and potential biological properties of hybrid-parallel nucleic acids triplexes, an elusive structure at the basis of life. We found that hybrid triplex topology follows a stability order: r(Py)-d(Pu)·r(Py) > r(Py)-d(Pu)·d(Py) > d(Py)-d(Pu)·d(Py) > d(Py)-d(Pu)·r(Py). The r(Py)-d(Pu)·d(Py) triplex is expected to be preferred in the cell as it avoids the need to open the duplex reducing the torsional stress required for triplex formation in the r(Py)-d(Pu)·r(Py) topology.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: This study aimed to understand the reasons for the high risk of job loss previously identified among foreign-born Chinese breast cancer survivors in the United States Qualitative interviews were conducted to explore challenges leading to job loss during/after treatment and to help identify potential interventions to promote job retention and re-employment.
Patients And Methods: The research team conducted semi-structured interviews with foreign-born Chinese breast cancer survivors in New York City. A total of 12 participants, previously enrolled in the Breast Cancer and the Workforce study, were interviewed between February and November 2018.
Backgrounds: There are no existing data in the literature on the learning curve of French interns in colonoscopy or on the comparison between different frequencies of colonoscopy training modalities. We aimed to assess the number of procedures required for French residents in hepatogastroenterology to achieve competency in colonoscopy.
Methods: The primary outcome was achieving greater than 90% cecal intubation rate (CIR90) competency using the Learning Curve-Cumulative Summation (LC-CUSUM) method.
