Deep mutational scanning of rabies glycoprotein defines mutational constraint and antibody-escape mutations.

Rabies virus causes nearly 60,000 human deaths annually. Antibodies that target the rabies glycoprotein (G) are being developed as post-exposure prophylactics, but mutations in G can render such antibodies ineffective. Here, we use pseudovirus deep mutational scanning to measure how all single amino-acid mutations to G affect cell entry and neutralization by a panel of antibodies.

Evaluation of Sensitivity and Specificity of Acuity 360 Telemedicine Vision Screening System.

Purpose: Our aim is to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of Acuity 360 telemedicine system, as compared to in-person clinic examination, in identifying clinically significant eye disease. Acuity 360 is a combination of commercially available ocular imaging devices used together to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the structures and diseases of the eye.

Methods: Observational cross-sectional study of consecutively examined patients where 19 remote examiners analyzed 80 patients using Acuity 360 images.

This case report presents a unique challenge of complete aortomitral curtain dehiscence and a large pseudoaneurysm 6 weeks post-aortic root replacement in a patient with infective endocarditis. It underscores the importance of meticulous follow-up in patients who have undergone complex aortic surgeries, especially those with infective endocarditis. The patient's subtle symptoms of occasional dyspnea and lightheadedness highlight the necessity for a comprehensive evaluation and a high index of suspicion.
