Introduction: Treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) in patients with obesity can be challenging. Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) has shown promising results in improving glycemic control and even achieving remission in T2DM patients with obesity. Summary: Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a subtype of monogenic diabetes and a rare type of diabetes, which accounts for 1-5% of cases and is often underdiagnosed. The importance of its diagnosis lies in the potential implications that it can have on disease management and offspring. We report a de novo KCNJ11-MODY case and the process of transition from insulin to sulfonylureas.

Periodontal disease affects about 80% of dogs, highlighting the importance of addressing periodontitis in veterinary dental care. The periodontal ligament (PDL) is a key structure holding the potential to regenerate the entire periodontal complex. This work presents an in vitro model of canine PDL-derived cell cultures that mimic the PDL's regenerative capacity for both mineralised and soft tissues.

Cephalopods play a major role in marine food webs as both predators and prey. Although most of the Hg in cephalopods is present in the muscle, most studies on its accumulation by predators are based on concentrations in beaks. Here, using upper and lower beaks and buccal masses of Moroteuthopsis longimana, we evaluated the relationship between Hg concentrations in different cephalopod tissues.
