Viral infections in plants are a big threat to agriculture and the economy. Though the viral infection mechanism is well documented, the cell-to-cell trafficking of the virus is poorly understood. The plant virus is known to encode movement protein (MP) for trafficking the virus from an infected cell to a healthy cell.

The current study attempts to estimate the prevalence rate of, and factors associated with, elder abuse in Ontario, Canada. The data for this study was collected using a cross-sectional study design, which involved a Qualtrics survey. Various recruitment strategies were used to reach respondents, including Facebook advertisements, email listservs, and a Qualtrics research panel.

Tilapia parvovirus (TiPV) is an emerging viral pathogen and responsible for severe economic loss in tilapia culture production. Lethargic, cutaneous haemorrhages; ocular lesions; discolouration of gill and cloudy eye and exophthalmia are common symptoms of TiPV. The TiPV-suspected tilapia fish were collected from grow-out ponds situated in different parts of Tamil Nadu, India, and screened for TiPV by PCR.

Article Synopsis
  • Septins are GTP-binding proteins important for immune response, but not fully studied in fish.
  • The research involved cloning the septin 2 cDNA from rohu carp, revealing high similarity to a related fish species and showing its presence in various tissues.
  • The septin 2 gene was found to be upregulated in response to infections, and the produced recombinant protein provided protection against infections, suggesting its potential as a key player in fish antimicrobial defense.

Perylene diimide (PDI) derivatives have been extensively explored as chromophoric dyes for functional organic materials. Here, the custom synthesized tyrosine appended perylene diimide (PDI-Tyr) derivative has shown strong aggregation in aqueous medium diminishing its emissive features, which was surpassed by the supramolecular interaction with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD). Complex formation between PDI-Tyr and β-CD, proposed from the absorption and emission studies, have been substantiated by the H-NMR, ITC and geometry optimization data.
