[The neuro-urological expert opinion in statutory accident insurance : Consensual recommendations for diagnostics and for the assessment of reduction of earning capacity].

Background: Previous assessment guidelines from standard sources for urologic expert opinions show considerable differences in the recommended percentages for the assessment of reduction of earning capacity (MdE) for accident sequelae in the neuro-urological specialty.

Objectives: To develop a "revised and standardized version of the MdE assessments of neuro-urological accident sequelae (in tabular form) as a guideline/manual" for expert opinions in the legal area of the German and Austrian Statutory Accident Insurance ( www.dguv.

[Short version of the S2k guideline on drug therapy of neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD)].

Background: In Germany about one million patients suffer from neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD). If left untreated, various forms of NLUTD can lead to secondary damage of the lower and upper urinary tract. Thus, the guideline was developed for the drug therapy of patients with NLUTD, who frequently require lifelong care and aftercare.

[Complex pelvic trauma : A case report with special consideration of the accompanying urogenital injury].

The following case report shows a young male patient with a complex pelvic trauma due to a traffic accident. In addition to the pelvic ring fracture, he also suffered a severe accompanying injury to the efferent urinary tract in combination with extensive damage of the lumbosacral plexus. Multiple extensive operations were necessary to address the C3 fracture of the pelvic ring and the bladder injury.

Perioperative Outcomes of Transurethral Resection, Open Prostatectomy, and Laser Therapy in the Surgical Treatment of Benign Prostatic Obstruction: A "Real-World" Data Analysis from the URO-Cert Prostate Centers.

Introduction: The aim of the study is to compare length of hospital stay, transfusion rates, and re-intervention rates during hospitalization for transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR-P), open prostatectomy (OP), and laser therapy (LT) for surgical treatment of benign prostatic obstruction (BPO).

Methods: URO-Cert is an organization, in which clinical data of prostatic diseases from 2 university, 19 public, and 3 private hospitals and 270 office-based urologists are collected in order to document treatment quality. Data on diagnostics, therapy, and course of disease are recorded web based.

[Treatment mapping of lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia-an analysis of the Governing Body of German Prostate Centers].

Background: Due to the high incidence and demographic development, there is an urgent need for healthcare research data on lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (LTUS/BPH). Since 2005 the Governing Body of German Prostate Centers (DVPZ) has been collecting data from 22 prostate centers in order to determine the quality and type of cross-sectoral care in particular for LUTS/BPH patients.

Objectives: Presentation of the DVPZ database in general, as well as an investigation of treatment patterns for medical and instrumental therapies.
