The mechanism of acetylene bromoboration in neat boron tribromide was studied carefully by means of experiment and theory. Besides the -addition mechanism through a four-center transition state, radical and polar -addition mechanisms are postulated, both triggered by HBr, which is evidenced also to take part in the isomerization of the product. The proposed mechanism is well supported by calculations at the MP2/6-31+G* level with Ahlrichs' SVP all-electron basis for Br.

Introduction: Granular cell tumors (GCTs) of the infundibulum are rare in practice and literature, resulting in a lack of evidence-based standard of care. We present two characteristic cases from our institution and perform a systematic review of the existing literature to further elucidate the presentation of this tumor and guide management.

Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, yielding 42 total individual reported GCTs suitable for evaluation.

Phytochemical investigation of the dichloromethane extract of the leaves of Peltophorum pterocarpum, a tropical ornamental tree, led to the isolation of twelve compounds (1-12). One new derivative of peltogynoid ophioglonin (1) and a new 2-phenoxychromone (2) with its 3'-O-β-D-glucoside derivative (3) are described here for the first time. In addition, nine flavonoid derivatives, including peltogynoid ophioglonin (4), were isolated for the first time from this plant.

Background: The characteristics of in-hospital emergency response systems, survival rates, and variables associated with survival after in-hospital cardiac arrest vary significantly among medical centers worldwide. Aiming to optimize in-hospital emergency response, we performed an analysis of survival after in-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the task profile of our cardiac arrest team.

Methods: In-hospital emergencies handled by the cardiac arrest team in the years 2004 to 2006 were analyzed retrospectively, and patient and event characteristics were tested for their associations with survival after cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
