Lung cancer has high mortality rates attributed to late diagnosis and treatment. Robot-assisted bronchoscopy (RAB) offers promising solutions to these challenges, enabling precise navigation and biopsy of small and difficult-to-reach lung nodules. We present the early outcomes and challenges encountered in establishing an RAB program at a Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center.

Objectives: To identify opportunities for improvement in quality of care, we explore Black families' experiences of family support in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) during their infant's hospital stay.

Methods: Semistructured qualitative interviews or focus groups (FGs) were conducted to explore Black families' experiences of NICU hospitalization. Inclusion criteria were self-identification as a Black family member and infant admission to our NICU between January 2020 and February 2022.

Orally bioavailable, synthetic nonpeptide agonists (NPAs) of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) may offer an effective, scalable pharmacotherapy to address the metabolic disease epidemic. One of the first molecules in the emerging class of GLP-1R NPAs is orforglipron, which is in clinical development for treating type 2 diabetes and obesity. Here, we characterized the pharmacological properties of orforglipron in comparison with peptide-based GLP-1R agonists and other NPAs.

The purpose of this paper is to describe ongoing research on appropriate instrumentation and analysis techniques to characterize postural stability, postural agility, and dynamic stability, which collectively comprise the postural control spectrum. This study had a specific focus on using emerging sensors to develop protocols suitable for use outside laboratory or clinical settings. First, we examined the optimal number and placement of wearable accelerometers for assessing postural stability.

Article Synopsis
  • Pegloticase effectively lowers serum urate levels in patients with uncontrolled gout, but its use is limited by the development of anti-drug antibodies.
  • Co-administration of methotrexate (MTX) was found to enhance the urate-lowering response and reduce the risk of infusion reactions, benefiting patients with limited treatment options.
  • In a study involving 100 patients, those receiving pegloticase and MTX showed greater improvements in gout response rates compared to those receiving pegloticase and a placebo after 52 weeks of treatment.
