Background: Accurate predictive tools are crucial for identifying patients at increased risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). The Pooled Cohort Equation (PCE) is commonly used to predict 10-year risk for ASCVD, but its accuracy remains imperfect.

Objective: This study examined the extent to which the omega-3 index (O3I; the proportion of eicosapentaenoic acid+docosahexaenoic acid in erythrocyte membranes) improved the predictive capability of PCE.

Assessing individual and population health in endangered wildlife poses unique challenges due to the lack of an adequate baseline and ethical constraints on invasive sampling. For endangered bats, minimally invasive samples like guano can often be the ethical and technical limit for studies of pathogens and the microbiome. In this study, we use multiplex metabarcode sequencing to describe the faecal microbiome and parasites of 56 Indiana bats ().

Background And Objectives: Traumatic meningeal enhancement (TME) can be observed on MRI of patients with acute traumatic brain injury (TBI) and reflects abnormal contrast extravasation into the meninges. Resolution of TME occurs over time, but TME can persist for weeks, suggesting incomplete meningeal repair. This study's objectives were to describe TME's prevalence, severity, and evolution over time and to investigate TME's association with other imaging findings, blood-based biomarkers commonly associated with TBI, and incomplete recovery.

There is a substantial geologic record of microfossils belonging to the fungal kingdom, however there is a need for a curation of these fossil fungi records which is up-to-date, convenient, and manipulable. Here we present MyCeno (Mycology of the Cenozoic) 2.0: a dataset containing more than 3,000 records of fossil fungi from the Cenozoic era (66 million years ago to present) and from more than 200 locations around the world.
