In the novels An Ideal Presence (2020) by Eduardo Berti and La maternité [Maternity] (2012) by Mathieu Simonet, relatives of the dying and palliative care professionals are given a voice. Their experiences highlight "holes" in the cloak of care, which can never protect the terminally ill completely. However, they also raise the question of a pallium for the carers themselves.

Oral mucosa - an examination map for confocal laser endomicroscopy within the oral cavity: an experimental clinical study.

Objectives: Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) is an optical method that enables microscopic visualization of oral mucosa. Previous studies have shown that it is possible to differentiate between physiological and malignant oral mucosa. However, differences in mucosal architecture were not taken into account.

Enhanced Transport at High Plasma Pressure and Subthreshold Kinetic Ballooning Modes in Wendelstein 7-X.

High-performance fusion plasmas, requiring high pressure β, are not well understood in stellarator-type experiments. Here, the effect of β on ion-temperature-gradient-driven (ITG) turbulence is studied in Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X), showing that subdominant kinetic ballooning modes (KBMs) are unstable well below the ideal MHD threshold and get strongly excited in the turbulence. By zonal-flow erosion, these subthreshold KBMs (stKBMs) affect ITG saturation and enable higher heat fluxes.

Pathogenic mechanisms in degenerative thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA) are still unclear. There is an ongoing debate about whether TAAs are caused by uniform or distinct processes, which would obviously have a major impact on future treatment strategies. Clearly, the ultimate outcome of TAA subgroups associated with a tricuspid aortic valve (TAV) or a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the same, namely a TAA.
