Dietary pattern, a modifiable risk factor that can be easily assessed for atherosclerosis vascular disease prevention in clinical practice.

Objectives: Nutrition is one of the modifiable risk factors of atherosclerosis vascular diseases (VD). We aimed to (i) evaluate the dietary patterns associated with VD in clinical practice using a validated FFQ; and (ii) determine potential independent sociodemographic and behavioural factors that are involved in such dietary patterns. The FFQ determined the vascular dietary score (VDS; ranges from -17 to 19) for each subject.

[An ultrasonic trap: pseudocystic degeneration of uterine myomas].

The authors present a rare case of pseudocystic degeneration of fibroids for which they had used an ultrasound scan before the operation. They point out that the ultrasound pictures they found were very similar indeed to those shown by patients with multiloculated ovarian cysts. They emphasize that ultrasound does have its limits in the diagnosis of pelvic tumours.

Blood donors from the Centre Régional de Transfusion Sanguine de Rennes were investigated for the phenotypic distribution of seven enzymatic systems : adenylate kinase, adenosine deaminase, esterase D, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, glutamate-pyruvate transaminase, phosphoglucomutase, and glyoxalase I. Two unusual phenotypes were observed: phenotype 6-1 for adenosine deaminase and phenotype 3-1 for transaminase GPT. For five of these enzymes, the statistical analysis points out significant differences in one or several of the European populations described in the literature.
