Background: Frailty is a challenging issue in China, however the prevalence of frailty across different population groups and whether this is changing over time remain unclear.

Methods: Unstandardized and age-and sex-standardized prevalence of frailty (95 % confidence interval (95 % CI)) (Frailty Index) in the overall sample and for subgroups defined by equity factors (PROGRESS-Plus framework) from 2011 to 2020 were estimated using analyses of cross-sectional surveys in adults aged 45 and older participating in 5 waves (N = 16,784 to 18,904 across waves) of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Studies (CHARLS). Poisson regression was used to estimate prevalence ratios (PRs) of frailty by equity factors.

Nucleic acid ADP-ribosylation and its associated enzymes involved in catalysis and hydrolysis are widespread among all kingdoms of life. Yet, its roles in mammalian and bacterial physiology including inter-/intraspecies conflicts are currently underexplored. Recently, several examples of enzymatic systems for RNA ADP-ribosylation have been identified, showing that all major types of RNA species, including messenger RNA, ribosomal RNA, and transfer RNA, can be targeted by ADP-ribosyltransferases (ARTs) which attach ADP-ribose modifications either to nucleobases, the backbone ribose, or phosphate ends.

Type VI secretion systems (T6SSs) are dynamic protein nanomachines found in Gram-negative bacteria that deliver toxic effector proteins into target cells in a contact-dependent manner. Prior to secretion, many T6SS effector proteins require chaperones and/or accessory proteins for proper loading onto the structural components of the T6SS apparatus. However, despite their established importance, the precise molecular function of several T6SS accessory protein families remains unclear.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eating disorders (EDs) frequently co-occur, with PTSD potentially worsening ED treatment outcomes. Integrated and concurrent interventions that treat both conditions together have been recommended, but no best practices exist. This case series of nine patients provides preliminary data on Written Exposure Therapy (WET), a brief, low-resource PTSD intervention, delivered concurrently with inpatient or day hospital ED treatment.
