Purpose: To evaluate the lacrimal punctal changes in different age groups using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT).

Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted between January 2023 and January 2024 including healthy subjects between 20 and 80 years. The selected eyes from healthy patients were divided into four age groups (21-35 years, 36-50 years, 51-65 years, 66-80 years), and lower lacrimal puncta were analyzed using AS-OCT.

Multifunctional PLA films were fabricated through the solution casting method by incorporating cardanol oil (CA) and amine-functionalized graphene (AFG). The effect of the CA, and AFG on the structural, mechanical, thermal, thermo-mechanical and antioxidant properties of PLA films were investigated. FTIR analysis of PLA-CA films showed distinct peak positions at 1590 cm corresponding to the aromatic C=C aromatic bond of CA, showing that CA is compatible with the PLA.

Spike sorting is a commonly used analysis method for identifying single-units and multi-units from extracellular recordings. The extracellular recordings contain a mixture of signal components, such as neural and non-neural events, possibly due to motion and breathing artifacts or electrical interference. Identifying single and multi-unit spikes using a simple threshold-crossing method may lead to uncertainty in differentiating the actual neural spikes from non-neural spikes.

Article Synopsis
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the leading cause of lower urinary tract symptoms, and the study explores how vitamin D's anti-inflammatory properties might help alleviate these symptoms.
  • The research involved men aged 45 to 80 with urinary issues, categorizing them based on their prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels to assess the link between vitamin D levels and prostate health.
  • Results indicated that PSA levels rise with age, particularly in men over 60, and a negative correlation between PSA and vitamin D levels was found in men aged 60 to 69.

The CHO VRC01 cell line produces an anti-HIV IgG1 monoclonal antibody containing N-linked glycans on both the Fab (variable) and Fc (constant) regions. Site-specific glycan analysis was used to measure the complex effects of cell culture process conditions on Fab and Fc glycosylation. Experimental data revealed major differences in glycan fractions across the two sites.
