Supravesical Fissure Variant of Bladder Exstrophy in a Female Patient: Case Report and Review of Literature.

Variations from classic bladder exstrophy (BE) are extremely uncommon, resulting in distinctive challenges in both diagnosis and management. The supravesical fissure variant of BE is exceptionally rare and has only been reported in male patients to date. Herein, we report the case and surgical management of a supravesical fissure variant of BE presentation in a newborn female patient and provide a literature review of this exstrophy variant.

The Need for Additional Surgery after Passive versus Active Approaches to Syndromic Craniosynostosis: A Meta-analysis.

Unlabelled: Endoscopically assisted craniofacial surgery (EACS) has numerous advantages over traditional, open approaches, such as fronto-orbital advancement in treating nonsyndromic craniosynostosis. However, several articles report high reoperation rates in syndromic patients treated with EACS. This meta-analysis and review examines undesirable outcome rates (UORs), defined as reoperation or Whitaker category III/IV, in syndromic patients undergoing primary EACS compared with procedures that actively expand the cranial vault.

A Sensor-Based Multichannel FES System to Control Knee Joint and Reduce Stance Phase Asymmetry in Post-Stroke Gait.

Most of the studies using functional electrical stimulation (FES) in gait rehabilitation have been focused on correcting the drop foot syndrome. Using FES to control the knee joint in individuals with central nervous system (CNS) disorders could also play a key role in gait recovery: spasticity decrease, higher range of motion, positive effect on balance, limiting hyperextension and flexion in stance phase, reducing joint overload, etc. In stance phase, an accurate timing and a fine tuning of stimulation parameters are however required to provide a proper control of the knee stimulation while ensuring a safe and efficient support.

Diving Accident Evacuations by Helicopter and Immersion Pulmonary Edema.

Scuba diving activities expose divers to serious accidents, which can require early hospitalization. Helicopters are used for early evacuation. On the French Mediterranean coast, rescue is made offshore mainly by a French Navy Dauphin or at a landing zone by an emergency unit EC 135 helicopter.
