Trade unions and corporate social responsibility (CSR) are important institutional mechanisms through which corporations undertake responsibility for their for-profit as well as not-for-profit actions. This study explores the roles of trade unions, management, and shareholders in influencing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) controversies and CSR reporting. Drawing on instrumental stakeholder theory, we argue that while management and shareholders typically focus on governance, profitability, and operational efficiency, trade unions act as critical relational stakeholders advocating for employee welfare and social sustainability.

Immunoglobulin GM (γ marker) and KM (κ marker) allotypes-encoded by immunoglobulin heavy chain G (IGHG) and immunoglobulin κ constant (IGKC) genes-have been shown to be associated with immune responsiveness to a variety of self and nonself antigens. The aim of the present investigation was to determine whether allelic variation at the GM and KM loci was associated with antibody responsiveness to poly-N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (PNAG), a broadly-conserved surface polysaccharide expressed by many microbial pathogens. In addition, we wished to determine whether Fcγ receptor 2 A (FCGR2A) genotypes, which have been shown to be risk factors for some pathogens, also influenced antibody responses to PNAG.

Background: Down syndrome (DS) is the most common congenital neurodevelopmental disorder, present in about 1 in every 700 live births. Despite its prevalence, literature exploring the neurobiology underlying DS and how this neurobiology is related to behavior is limited. This study fills this gap by examining cortical volumes and behavioral correlates in school-age children with DS.

Article Synopsis
  • Vulvar carcinoma, primarily squamous cell carcinoma, is a rare form of cancer occurring in the external female genitalia, necessitating a multidisciplinary treatment approach often involving surgery and adjuvant therapy based on stage and other factors.
  • A retrospective study conducted in India over eight years included 21 patients with vulvar cancer, analyzing disease stages, treatment methods, and outcomes, revealing a five-year survival rate of about 71%.
  • The study highlighted the importance of individualized treatment plans and the need for strict protocols and regular follow-ups, especially in low-resource settings, to improve patient outcomes in this rare disease.
